Khaled selim biography

Born in Kuwait, Khaled is a typical Scorpio with 2 older brothers and a younger sister. He lived there till graduation from high school. During that time, his father first noticed his talent and bought him a "keyboard," and since then, he has started joining music bands in his schools. The real beginning was after moving back to Cairo, Egypt, to join the musical band at Cairo University. The artist received the title “Premier Musician of Egyptian Universities” in three years: ’97, '98, and 99. During these years, he refused lots of offers to work in nightclubs and hotels. Khaled Selim is among the most successful of the country’s youthful musical performers. His songs appeal to youths, and moreover he is adept at singing in several different dialects, which include the Spanish, English, Lebanese, Gulf, and Egyptian dialects. Khaled has frequently held concerts at opera theaters in Cairo, Alexandria, and in multiple countries around the world. Khaled Selim is Egypt’s homegrown star who does it all. Checking music and movies off his list, he now has fatherhood to take on. Ever since Selim was three years old, his parents realized there was something different about him. Even before he could make up proper sentences, Selim could sing. And he sang his way through life. If he wanted something, he’d sing to his parents till he got it. “Chocolates, holidays, whatever it is that he wanted, he just sang to get it, and it usually worked,” he recounts. As Selim grew up, he continued singing his way to everything: fame, money, success... After graduation, Selim decided to follow his passion and to dedicate his time and efforts to becoming a professional singer. Taking a big leap of faith, he produced his debut album, Alam Tani (From Another World). This is how Sameh Adel from Mirage Production Company got to know of him. The company helped him market and distribute his album and financed his first video. The video was a success, and everyone was talking about this new singer. “People started asking, Who is that daring man who dropped an album and is swimming with the dolphins?”. “The concept of the video was different; swimming with the dolphins illustrates the alternate world!” Climbing the ladder of fame one step at a time, the next stride was a big one. Selim was asked by Director Tarek El Erian to sing the soundtrack of an upcoming movie (Al Sellem Well Teaban). Luckily for Selim, the movie became a blockbuster, and—along with the cast of the movie—he didn’t know how people would respond to it, but it gave him the exposure he needed.”. From that point on, Selim was sought after as an actor as well as a singer. Offers to star in movies flooded in, but Selim was very reluctant to take that step. “He wanted to prove myself as a singer first and then take on acting.”. He eventually agreed to venture into acting when he fell in love with the script of Sana Oula Nassab. Selim decided that if he was going to do it, he had to do it right. “He took acting classes and was determined to take this seriously.” With this experience, Selim realized he loved acting, and he decided to pursue his career as both an actor and a singer! Nevertheless, Selim insists that he is first a singer, then an actor. “Singing is his ultimate dream; it will always be.” So, fresh from the success of his debut blockbuster movie, Selim decided to take time off and focus on his music. A slew of hit albums followed. In his free time—when he gets any—this father, singer, and actor likes to exercise at the gym; enjoys sketching, taking pictures, and listening to good music.
